July 4, 2008 Birth of Ashton Taylor Faulring

Renee went into the hospital July 3rd, 2008 to be induced. The baby wasn't growing very well and his heart beat kept dropping. She went in about 12:30 p.m. and They inserted a cream to soften her cervix and start the contractions. The contractions started picking up fast but she wasn't dilating. Her cervix was pretty firm. She wasn't due until the end of July but with the concerns of the baby they are taking him early.

I went to the hospital about 3 p.m. in the afternoon. We just kind of chilled for a bit and Spence dozed off. Jon and Bri had Pyper and Jordan all night.

Poor Renee was suffering through the contractions and finally had an epideural about 1 this morning. It helped her relax for a bit. By noon they thought she might have to have a C-section. She wasn't dilating very well at all. She was only barely at a 4. By 12:20 she was a 4+ so they would give her a little more time.

Joseph called and had been vomiting all morning and needed me to come home to watch Isaac while he went to the E.R. I was irritated as I didn't want to miss the birth. I took Pyper home as Spence brought her to the hospital for a couple hours to see that mommy was doing okay, and checked on Isaac and Scott.

Renee had just started progressing more quickly. I took Pyper back to Jon and Bri's, made sure Isaac was okay and left him with Scott for the moment, and got back to the hospital. Renee was finally sleeping a little. Her chin was quivering and she was shaking a little. I figured she had hit Transition phase. Twenty minutes later Dr. Young came in and and within 10 minutes Ashton was born after 2 pushes. He is a beautiful baby.

Mom and baby are doing quite well.

Spencer and Pyper. Spencer brought Pyper to see her mommy for a little bit. Pyper was afraid for her mommy that her mommy would hurt. She was happy to see mommy and daddy. Renee finally got a little sleep just before Dr. Young came in and said "You ready to have a baby?"
